OK, so here are the Queensland School Holidays 2013 dates, in full. Term 1: Tuesday 29 January - Thursday 28 March 9 weeks Term 2: Monday 8 April - Friday 21 June 11 weeks Term 3: Monday 8 July - Friday 20 September 11 weeks Term 4: Monday 7 October - Friday 13 December 10 weeks Queensland is a state of Australia occupying the northeastern part of the continent. It is bordered on the west by the Northern Territory, south-west by South Australia and south with the New South Wales, to the east is washed by the Coral Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It is the second Australian state area after Western Australia and the third most populous after New South Wales and Victoria. Between 40,000 and 65,000 years ago the area began to be populated by indigenous peoples and the Torres Strait Islanders come from. As a result, Queensland became a British Crown Colony that was separated from New South Wales 6 June 1859, a date celebrated in state called Queensland Day The area is now the state capital, Brisbane, was originally the Moreton Bay penal colony, which was used as a place for recidivist convicts. The state later encouraged immigration, and today Queensland's economy is dominated by agriculture, tourism and mining. The population is concentrated in the south-east Queensland. Queensland is often nicknamed the Sunshine State, because it has a warm climate and a considerable part of the state is in the tropics. Queensland State was named in honor of Queen Victoria, 6 June 1859 that he signed a proclamation in which he separated the state from New South Wales at the time of the proclamation, the Queen Victoria was a very popular monarch, and chose a name for the new colony of the same name Cooksland, whose name had been suggested by John Dunmore Lang, a local Presbyterian minister in honor of the English navigator James Cook. The capital is Brisbane, located on the coast, 100 km north of the road to border with New South Wales area of the city is spread over 40,000 square kilometer (15,400 miles square). The state is divided into different regions officially recognized. Other geographical regions of note are the Atherton Tablelands, the Granite Belt, and the country's Channel in the south-west. Queensland has many interesting places from a naturalistic point of view including: the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast with some of the most popular beaches of the state, the Bunya Mountains and the Great Dividing Range, with numerous waterfalls and picnic areas; Carnarvon Gorge, Whitsunday Islands and Hinchinbrook Island. The state has six conservation areas including: the Australian Fossil Mammal Sites Riversleigh which is located in the Gulf Country, the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, Fraser Island, the reef (Great Barrier Reef), the park Lamington National and the tropical rainforest of Queensland. |
